Leica Q2 Monochrom at Pitti 101

Leica were kind enough to loan me a Q2 monochrom for me to let loose upon the biannual Pitti Uomo this January in Florence. Essentially the meeting point of some of the world’s best classically dressed men and women, there’s also the small matter of an international trade fair with over 8,000 visitors from over 60 countries.

Using the Q2 monochrom to cover fashion especially when colour can be such a major part of someone’s outfit choice may seem reductive, however the shots I got of the attendees were richly vivid in life and character in a way I’ve not seen in my own B&W work before. I like the idea of people seeing the photos imagining the outfits in real life and I think the unintimidating size of the Q2 but also it’s rapid and clean shots meant that I could interact with my subjects and easily get what I wanted from them, without having to concern myself with if the camera could keep up.
